Expo 2020, Dubai, has sent their bid to host the World Expo 2020 under the theme – 'Connecting Minds, Creating the Future'.
World Expo attracts millions of visitors and is held after every five years for approximately six months period first time to this region with a passion to bring people together.- Dubai has bid to bring home, World Expo 2020, international event which would feature spectacular exhibition, pavilions, cultures and business gatherings benchmarking human progression with a road map to move forward.
- The expo is to be located on 438 hectares equidistant from the international airports of Dubai and Abu Dhabi which connect to almost 300 global destinations every day, is the sign that will become Dubai expo 2020.
- This vision of innovation through collaboration has explored three sub themes, Opportunity, Sustainability and mobility. Each with its own dedicated zone.
- At the heart of it is plaza called Musal, the old Arabic name for Dubai meaning, the connection. At the edge of the plaza is the innovation of the year. An entirely new pavilion concept.
- The iconic design of Dubai Expo 2020, a permanent legacy will leverage the surrounding facilities and fostering innovation, global collaboration and education.
- The Expo theme is Connecting Minds, Creating the Future.
- This place is connected to 300 global destination every day, the site chosen is one of the largest ever earmarked for an Expo world fair. It has a very close proximity to Jebel Ali Port and situated adjacent to the new Dubai World Central Airport and easy access to several express ways like the Dubai Bypass Road and Shaikh Zayed Road.
- The site will cater to over 25 million visitors with transportation and pedestrian circulation plan.
- The design has been inspired by the traditional Arab souqs (meaning “market” in Arabic) with United Arab Emirates’s distinctive architectural heritage and environment of vibrancy, interactive and trade. - The winner will be announced in November following a vote by the 163-member nations of the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE), the Paris-based inter-governmental organization responsible for the World Expo.
- Whatever infrastructure will be built is an investment for the future. The site will serve as a permanent attraction beyond 2020 and will enhance further the UAE’s long-term appeal as a premier destination for high-profile global events
- After the six-month event, the facility of 423 hectares would be further developed as a state-of-the-art exhibition and convention center. The first phase of which would be the indoor entertainment venue to be built for Expo 2020.
- There will be an institute Zone that encompasses research center and university focused on fostering collaborative thought leadership between academia, corporations and entrepreneurs. The university would form the core of a new "institute zone" and would include research center.
- Legacy’ is one of the key words to be reflected through the Expo 2020 theme and post the mega event, the zone of the site will be transferred into a National Museum commemorating the evolution of the UAE and celebrating the first World Expo for the Arab World.
